Okay real talk.
My favorite moment of making magic at Disney was probably the smallest gesture ever but brought so much joy to a little girl.
So story time.
It was late.
We were getting ready to close (Pop Century food court) and I was working pizza catcher like most nights. A gentlemen with the tiniest and most tired little girl in his arms came to order a pizza. After taking his order and requesting he came back in 10 minutes when his pizza would be ready, he returned and I could tell the little girls night wasn’t ready to be over even though she was oh so tired in the eyes.
I looked at her and said:
“Do you want to earn a cupcake (with of course permission from her dad)?”
Her eyes grew so bright and told me yes. So, I tasked her with showing me her best dance move. She got so shy, but I remember she did the tiniest little dance just enough to pass the test, and of course I had to grant her the best and yummiest cupcake (because Disney’s cupcakes aren’t something you should pass up) and make magic for her just one more time that night. She left SO over the moon.
You learn to read a person or child, see what they need even without them speaking and give it to them without them having any idea of how you knew.
It doesn’t take but a second to put yourself in another persons shoes and see what they need in that moment. That little girl just wanted the magic to continue and I wanted her to know it still does outside of the parks.
That one moment still lives with me because THAT is why Disney exists. And why I will forever be grateful for my experience there. And why I need to carry the traits that I took away on into my career.
So yea. That’s my story.
This has been your daily dose of Vitamin C!
